The PN Executive has laid out the timetable for the election of the party leader and the two deputy leaders.

Nominations will be received by the party’s General Council which will short list two candidates, of whom one will be selected in a vote open to all party members in a General Convention.

The rules need to be approved by the General Council which will meet on Wednesday, June 28.

Nominations for party leader will be received between July 17 and 19. The General Council then meets in the first week of September to vote on the nominations for party leader.

The top two will be subject to a vote by the General Convention on Saturday September 16.

The electoral commission will be chaired by former foreign minister and European Commissioner Joe Borg assisted by Matthew Mangion, Boris Xerri, Trevor Degiorgio, Mario Pace Asciak, Angelito Sciberras and Isabel Vella.

Once the party leader is elected, the process for the election of the deputy leaders will start.
