These are the leading stories in today's local newspapers. 

The Sunday Times of Malta leads with news that Edward Scicluna, Helena Dalli and Chris Fearne each have their eyes on a PL deputy leadership spot vacated by the retirement of Louis Grech. 

In a secondary story, the paper reports Archbishop Charles Scicluna's denunciation of hate speech.

The Malta Independent on Sunday also leads with a story about the PL deputy leadership, writing that Prof. Scicluna has confirmed his intention to contest the post. 

MaltaToday also writes that the three above-mentioned ministers are in the running for the party deputy leadership post. The newspaper also dedicates space on its front page to rumoured frontrunners for the PN leadership contest. 

It-Torca reports that human traffickers shuttling people between Sicily and Malta are now using yachts to smuggle people along the route. 

Il-Mument reports that more than 800 Gozitans quit their private sector jobs during the election to join the public sector, with the paper saying Gozitan PL candidates have brought Gozo's private sector "onto its knees". 

Kullħadd leads with a focus on the PN, writing that the party's executive council has yet to approve new leadership election rules and that the process described by outgoing leader Simon Busuttil is not yet part of the PN rulebook. 

Illum reports that PL MP Robert Abela was offered a parliamentary secretary post by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat. Dr Abela was made legal adviser to Dr Muscat.
