On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the conferment of the title of City to the town of Rabat and its name changed to Victoria, Victoria local council organised a concert by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Joseph Debrincat, at Independence Square. The concert included works by Bizet, Gounod, Rossini, Puccini, Ketelbey, Tchaikovsky and Camilleri. Victoria mayor Samuel Azzopardi delivered a short speech for the occasion. Among those present were the newly appointed Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana, past mayors and Victoria band clubs representatives.
