The Basketball women's selection won gold in the Small Nations Games in San Marino after edging Luxembourg 52-50 in a thrilling encounter at the Multi Domus Centre in Serravalle.

Angela Adamoli's girls produced a spirited performance which saw them come back from 11 points down to go on and make it a perfect three wins in a row in the competition.

Ashleigh Vella and Christina Grima were Malta's leading scorers with 10 points each.

This was Malta's third triumph in the Small Nations Games after they had won the gold medal in 2003 in Malta and the 2009 edition held in Cyprus.
