ABELA. On May 24, at Mater Dei Hospital, VICTOR of Sliema, aged 78, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Carmen, née Pulé, his daughter Rosanne and her husband Stephen Calleja, his grandchildren Luke and Sarah, his in-laws Josie, Vanni, Lora and Maria, their respective spouses, nephews and nieces, all other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Saturday, May 27 at 8.45am for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 9.30am, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. BARRETT. On May 20, at Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre, CATHERINE, née Pirotta, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Paul and daughter Melanie and her husband Mark, her brothers Joseph and his wife Maria and Godfrey and his wife Mary Rose, her sister-in-law Mary Rose, her brother-in-law James, her nephews and nieces Edward, Jonathan, and Davinia; and from the UK and Canada her sister-in-law Lamenda, brother-in-law Alan and wife Glenda, with nephews James, John and David, grandchildren Daniel and Rachel, her cousin Monica and husband Charles, friends and neighbours. Mass will be said today, Wednesday, May 24, at 10am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Gżira, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No black colours to be worn as per Catherine’s request. Lord, grant her eternal rest. Special thanks go to all at Oncology Ward 1 and the Palliative Care Unit for their great kindness and outstanding dedication.

BORG MICALLEF. On May 23, at Dar tal-Kleru, Fleur-de-Lys, Birkirkara, Fr JOSEPH BORG MICALLEF, aged 94, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his nephews and niece, Randolph, Victor, Anton, Maria, Paul, John, Vince, Michael and Joseph and their respective families, his sister-in-law Nena, other relatives and friends. He has generously offered to bequeath his body to the Anatomy Department of the University of Malta. The funeral leaves the University of Malta on Saturday, May 27 at 8.30am for St Publius parish church, Floriana, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am. The body will be bequeathed back to the University of Malta for the purpose of doctor training and research. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Great thanks go to the dedicated nuns and staff at Dar tal-Kleru. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GALEA. On May 22, at home, Dr EDWIN GALEA of Sliema, aged 92, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Mary, his children Leonard and his wife Anna, Andrew and his wife Sandie, Louise and Julian, his grandchildren Mark, Emma, Melissa, Rebecca, Sophie, Christina, and Jonathan, his great-grandson Edward, his brother and sister Charles and his wife Delma and Iris and Jimmy, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St James Capua Hospital today, Wednesday, May 24, at 8.30am for Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Hospice Malta, Balzan, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

PRECA TRAPANI. On May 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOHN, aged 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and comforted by the rights of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Doris née Farrugia, his son John and wife Helena, his son Paul, his grand-daughters Hannah and Rachel, his sister Mary widow of John Fonk, his niece Monica and husband Joe Grech and daughter Lorna, his nephew Eric Fonk, in-laws, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated today, Wednesday, May 24, at 3pm, at St Helen’s Basilica, Birkirkara, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.
