Gozo’s historic Citadel will play host to an impressive array of science-related activities, showcasing the best of research and innovation taking place on the Maltese islands.

The first edition of Science in the Citadel will play futuristic science in the context of the past.

An interactive science fair, children’s shows, practical workshops, talks and debates, roving science buskers and exhibitions will be installed along the atmospheric streets, and within the moat and buildings of the fortress in the heart of Gozo.

The Citadel was, in its day, a product of the latest science and engineering knowledge. It will now be transformed to show how science forms part of daily life and how scientific research and invention is inspired by the necessities and problems of its age.

Participating organisations include EcoGozo, Esplora, University of Malta, Malta Council of Science and Technology, Malta Chamber of Scientists, Microsoft, SharkLab, the National Aquarium, Malta Life Sciences Park as well as Heritage Malta and Wirt Għawdex and all the island’s schools.

The event will be held on Saturday from 9am to 9pm. Entrance is free. For more information, visit colleenbower@btinternet.com or the event’s facebook page: www.facebook.com/ScienceInThe Citadel.
