The number of passengers crossing between Malta and Gozo in Easter week rose by 10.6 per cent over the same period last year, the Gozo Ministry said this morning, setting a new record.
That was 29.7 per cent more that in 2013.
The number of cars also increased by 10.6 per cent.
The number of ferry crossings increased by 12 over last year and waiting time decreased, despite a ramp problem suffered by one of the ferries.
Meanwhile, the National Statistics Office said 1,040,188 passengers travelled between Malta and Gozo during the first quarter this year, up by 3.0 per cent when compared to the corresponding quarter in 2016. The highest number of passengers

The number of vehicles increased by 4.9 per cent, totalling 320,432.
The number of trips amounted to 5,216, an increase of 1.0 per cent over the same period in 2016. The majority of trips took place in March - 1,830 or 35.1 per cent of total trips for the quarter.
