The sombre and silent roads of Malta’s old capital will tomorrow tell the 2,000-year-old tale that is recounted annually just before Easter.
The Passion of Christ will be re-enacted tomorrow by Carpe Diem Productions, which has organised a similar pageant in Żejtun over the past two days.
In-Nażri, which starts at 8pm tomorrow, is being organised under the patronage of President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca and will be free of charge, however donations will be collected in aid of the Malta Community Chest Foundation.
The production, presented in collaboration with the Mdina local council and scripted by Cleavon Vella, will see the old capital’s streets transform into the Jerusalem of two millennia ago.
Directed by Mario Micallef, In-Nażri is styled using interactive theatre, in which multiple sites and palaces around Mdina host the main episodes from the Passion of Christ.
One such site, which is usually not accessible to the public, is the De Redin bastion, situated right behind the Mdina Cathedral.
The production is also being held in collaboration with the Cathedral Capital, the Cathedral Museum and Heritage Malta and the support of Meli Garage and Ta’ Dernis Properties.
