A UK media outlet took inspiration from the overnight collapse of Gozo's Azure Window to trick its readers into believing a similarly iconic limestone arch in southwest England had collapsed overnight.  

Somerset Live announced this morning that Dorset's Durdle Door, which forms part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, was no more. 

'Durdle Door in Dorset has collapsed following the loss of the Azure Window in Malta' the news site claimed. 

The media outlet said a "freak weather event" was to blame for the collapse and included photos of the supposedly-destroyed structure taken by a local beachcomber. 

"My guess is that a freak wave hit it really hard and it broke off," it quoted him as saying. 

In reality, Durdle Door is still standing - though experts consulted by Somerset Live shortly after the Azure Window's collapse have predicted that it would probably collapse withing 50 to 100 years.
