A rare eagle flies

Eagle launches beautiful new Spyder GT.

The first production-ready example of the Eagle’s gorgeous new Spyder GT is now complete, and costs over €800,000.

The specialist Jaguar E-Type restoration company announced the new Spyder GT at the 2016 London Classic Car Show, with the completed model joining the Eagle E-Type, Speedster and Low Drag GT models in the firm’s special edition Jaguar E-Type stable.

A 4.7-litre straight-six engine from the Jaguar XK powers the new Spyder GT. It produces 330bhp and 461Nm of torque, allowing for a 0-60mph of less than five seconds, and a top speed of more than170mph.

Generous amounts of leather and hidden handbrake lever

The hand-crafted Spyder GT, which starts life as an original E-Type that is ready for restoration, weighs in at 1,029kg, providing a power-to-weight ratio of 326bhp per ton.

Eagle has managed to save a considerable amount of weight by using an aluminium monocoque, aluminium gearbox, aluminium engine block and magnesium components.

The cabin features generous amounts of leather as well as an eye-catching, sweeping centre console and a hidden handbrake lever.

In contrast to the roofless Eagle Speedster, the new Spyder GT gains a folding roof, meaning the sports car can be enjoyed in any weather conditions.

The new car will be a limited-run model, with Eagle simply stating that there are “only a very few being built”.
