This year’s edition of the Milano AutoClassica brought together enthusiasts, experts and operators, all attracted by this continuously expanding sector which is gaining more and more interest in the general public.

The event focused on the fortunate contamination between past and present that adds value to the heritage of the brands and to the models of today and tomorrow presented by the car makers. Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Jeep and Abarth, that have written some of the most beautiful pages in world automotive history with their heritage made of cars, people, motorsport wins, design and technical innovations, could certainly not miss out on this opportunity.

Visitors to the Jeep stand were able to see an original Willys MB – the predecessor of the CJ-2A, which was the first 4x4 Jeep for civilian use – by the side of the new Jeep Wrangler 75th Anniversary special series.

Production of the Willys MB (formally the Willys Jeep MB Truck, 1/4 ton, 4x4), a small all-wheel drive utility vehicle with mechanics adapted for use on difficult terrain for cross-country reconnaissance, was kicked off in July 15, 1941. The vehicle, which remained in production until 1945, was named ‘General Purpose’, hence the acronym GP, slurred in speech into ‘Jeep’. It fitted a Go Devil 2199 cc water-cooled petrol engine capable of delivering 54 HP at 4000 rpm. It had three high-range gears, three low-range gears and reverse. It was 4x4 with selectable front-wheel drive and reached a top speed of 115km/h.

The Jeep Wrangler 75th Anniversary special series was made to celebrate the milestone anniversary of Jeep. The car sports sarge green exteriors and is equipped with a powerful Pentastar V6 3.6-litre engine. Standard equipment comprises exclusive optional equipment, like the grille in matching body colour with bronze slots and headlight bezels, Power Dome bonnet with air vents, limited slip differential, navigation system with premium audio system, leather seats and dual top in matching body colour.
