Five teachers from St Martin’s College, Swatar, recently underwent a job shadowing experience at Ricarda-Huch Schule in Giessen, Germany, that provided great insights into how other countries tap into their intercultural links.

The teachers from the English, International Languages and Humanities Departments were able to observe the German school’s Trialogue of Cultures programme, which focuses on the similarities between Jewish, Christian and Muslim beliefs with the aim of fostering acceptance. Ricarda-Huch Schule has set up student exchanges with schools in Israel and the US.

The staff were also introduced to the Kultur Schule programme which the Ricarda-Huch Schule runs in collaboration with other German schools. This programme aims at introducing artistic and aesthetic elements through all the learning areas.

The job shadowing experience was supported by a grant obtained through Erasmusplus programme.
