Four of the 10 Maltese students currently participating in the 2016-17 High Five Junior Mathematics Challenge have excelled in the first of the three rounds of the competition.

Eric Bader and Nicolai Bonello attained a gold medal in Group 5 while Daniel Pisani and Mark Azzopardi attained a silver and bronze medal in Groups 3 and 4 respectively. During this year’s edition, 16,000 contestants are taking part from 27 countries in five continents.

The students were nominated by the Department of Curriculum Management to participate in the tournament.

The department will continue supporting all 10 participants in the forthcoming winter and spring rounds.  The final round will be held on June 30, 2017, in Nessebar, Bulgaria.
