Promoting better access to tertiary education for people on the autistic spectrum and those with learning difficulties is the theme of a conference being organised by the University’s Faculty for Social Wellbeing on November 25.

The aim is to identify difficulties such people face to access tertiary education and how the University can respond effectively to help them overcome these barriers.

The conference will bring together students, academics, national and international experts, parents’ organisations and policy makers.

It will be addressed among others by President Marie Louise Colerio Preca, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo, Shadow Education Minister Therese Comodini Cachia, University rector Alfred Vella, pro-rector for Staff and Student Affairs and Outreach Carmen Sammut, Faculty for Social Wellbeing dean Andrew Azzopardi and National Commission for Persons with Disability chairman Oliver Scicluna.

The conference will be held at the University’s Valletta campus. Attendance is free. To register, email lara.ellul@um.edu.mt.
