Playing for the second successive year for Sicilian team CC Ortigia in the Italian top league, Steve Camilleri has already had his name inserted near the summit of the scorers’ rankings.

His seven goals in the first three matches in October propelled him to joint third place in the overall list, a familiar position for the striker during the eight previous years when playing for overseas teams.

Early last month Ortigia lost the opening match 12-2 when they faced champions Pro Recco away. They then hosted Torino whom they beat 16-8 after which they won against SS Lazio, in Rome, 9-6, with Camilleri netting four and three goals, respectively, in the last two matches.

Presently, Ortigia are in the top half of the standings with six points.

Joint leaders Pro Recco, AN Brescia and Sport Management are all on maximum points from three matches.
