Doctors recommend drinking eight cups, or two litres, of water a day, pointing out that hydration is essential to sustain a healthy metabolism, to maintain a constant body temperature, blood pressure and heart rate. It also keeps the skin glowing, helps a person to think and keeps the joints supple.

GSD Marketing Ltd, through Kristal water, is collaborating with the Health Promotion Department on a campaign aimed at encouraging people to drink more water by informing them about the benefits and the body’s need to be constantly hydrated.

“As a company, we are committed to support the community through campaigns that give them information they need to make healthy choices for the health and lifestyle benefits,” said GSD Marketing Ltd general manager Brian Galea.

During activites held at different locations, the Health Department is serving neutral water as well as fruit and herb infused water.

“The campaign, which kicked off at the Mater Dei Hospital’s Outpatients Department, followed by the Birkirkara Health Centre, focuses on the importance of incorporating water as an essential element in our diet and keeping hydrated all year round, particularly in the hot and humid months when the consequences of being dehydrated are even higher,” said GSD public affairs and communications executive Clarissa Jones.

Other activities will be held this month in front of Paola health centre and next to the Mosta Maltapost office.
