Brussels craft beer Brewhaus is teaming up with the kitchen of Sciacca to offer an evening of their collection of beers paired with grilled food at the newly-opened Sciacca Grill in St Julian’s.

All beers available on the night are Belgian craft ales from two of Brussels’ foremost breweries: Brasserie de la Senne and Brussels Beer Project.

Chef Jonathan Brincat has designed a menu to tantalise foodies and craft beer lovers. With six Belgian craft beers (two of which are limited edition, seasonal beers) paired with six dishes, the elaborate menu promises an evening to be remembered.

The menu on the night is as follows: Grosse Bertha (wheat beer – 7 per cent), paired with two chicken liver paté and asparagus and cream cheese on toasted bread; Cheeky Kamille (camomile infused red ale – 5.2 per cent limited edition beer, of which very few bottles are left), paired with local goat’s cheese royal, pickled beetroot and honey and citrus dressing;

Zinnebir (golden Belgian ale – 5.8 per cent), paired with veal (beef) carpaccio, topped with a truffle dressing, crispy chicken skin bits, and confit egg yolk; Red My Lips (session IPA – 4.7 per cent), paired with grilled local prawns, dried cherry tomatoes and a slightly spicy, home-made chimichurri sauce.

The main course features I Like it Bitter (Double IPA – 8.1 per cent limited edition, last bottles reserved for event), paired with Sciacca’s specialty Australian sirloin and pressed beef shin, served with a wild mushroom ragout and a velvety potato purée.

For dessert there is Stouterik (Stout – 4.5 per cent), paired with a slice of Opera Cake (multi-layered chocolate and coffee cake) and a dollop of plain yoghurt ice cream.

Guests will be offered explanations on how to best complement and contrast tastes and textures of the food with the specifically-selected craft beers. They will also be given a souvenir and a full bottle of their favourite craft beer.
