The fifth edition of Swieqi Fest, an annual event aiming to promote sport, art and culture, kicks off tomorrow.

Thursday morning sees the traditional Swieqi 5km run, 5km walk and 1.3km fun run at which the public is invited to support the participants who have already registered. The run will start from the Swieqi Civic Centre and all proceeds collected will be donated to Id-Dar tal-Providenza. In the afternoon, the annual Swieqi Handball Cup will be held at the Santa Clara Primary School pitch in Pembroke.

On Friday, there will be live performances from Kevin Paul, Crossroads and Skarlet starting at 7.30pm, with numerous singers from Mad About the Voice Studio entertaining the crowd in between performances.

Saturday sees Flash – The Queen Tribute Band taking to the stage with Emma Muscat warming up the crowd at 8pm.

On the last day of the festival, a variety of activities for children, including art sessions, will be held in the afternoon between 5pm and 8pm at the premises of the Swieqi local council.

More live performances follow from 7.30pm onwards featuring Ellipse, The Crowns, Kurt Calleja and Narrow Lane, with acts from Mad About The Voice Studio once again.

The studio offers aspiring singers the opportunity to be monitored by current UK music professionals. Its involvement at Swieqi Fest will include performances from Gaia, Maxine Pace, Jasmine Abela and many other young and upcoming performers.

During the live performances, entrance will be free and various food and drink stands will be available.
