Marsaxlokk Fischer, who deposed neighbours Marsascala for the First Division league title, ended their campaign with a clean slate when yesterday they beat Ta’ Xbiex Amigos 12-10 thus bringing their total to 36 points from 12 matches.

The scoreline was close but the southseasiders were always in the driving seat against opponents who had Reinhardt Attard and David Fenech missing.

At the end of the match, Paul Gauci, Executive Head, BOV, presented the league trophy to Marsaxlokk captain Christian Gialanze in the presence of ASA president Joe Caruana Curran, the players, coach Ian Azzopardi and a handful of supporters who added to the celebrations in the main stand.

It was a truly successful championship trek for the south seasiders who will now meet Marsascala in the knock-out and then Exiles in a decider to determine the place in the top division.
