The Santa Marija Fireworks Association had promised to put on a fireworks spectacle to remember, and they certainly delivered.

Yesterday evening's pyrotechnic bonanza for Mqabba's feast of the Assumption saw some 10,000 igniters fired, with fireworks set off from a 54-metre tall tower, colour-changing fireballs and fireworks spelling out words, with everything synchronised to music.

Local pyrotechnic experts worked day and night to prepare what Malta Pyrotechnics Association president Josef Camilleri called "one of the biggest displays ever to take place in Malta.”

In a first for Malta, two different firing systems - PyroDigit and FireOne - were used during the show.

Feast your eyes on some of the spectacular displays captured by Times of Malta readers.
