If there is one word that best describes fashion it would most probably be change. What once was a must-have can go out of fashion overnight - and vice versa. Trends come and go, most of them are one season thing, but then there are few exceptions that make it to that wear-it-all-the-time style category.

Just two years ago, no fashion editor would have dared to sit front row and wear trainers. Fast forward to today, and wearing trainers is the boldest fashion statement you can make. You can practically wear what used to be called gym shoes with anything and never get it wrong. How did it all start?

Adidas Stan Smith Boom

Let's go back to 2010, when Adidas' iconic tennis sneakers, in production since early 80’s, caught the fashion world's attention after Celine’s creative director Phoebe Philo, wore the iconic Stan Smith trainers while taking a bow after her show.

That night, she turned that particular sneaker into a trend in a matter of weeks. Stan Smith sneakers are now a permanent fixture on the feet of streetstyle stars and celebrities like Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Pharell Williams and Miranda Kerr. You know something's gone from trend to style when Victoria Beckham wears it too.

Heels vs. Trainers

Let’s be honest. Heels might give us an elevated look and add an extra dose of confidence, but nothing beats the comfort and effortlessness of trainers. They are ageless, affordable and chic enough to pair with ripped denim shorts for an off-duty weekend look or ultra-short LBD (little-black-dress) for dinner & drinks outing. You will not only earn extra style points from your BFFs but never call it a night due to unbearable pain again.
