A quarry in Siggiewi that was used for some 24 years is to be rehabilitated and reused for agricultural purposes.

The Planning Authority this afternoon gave the go-ahead for the quarry, with an approximate surface area of 9,700 square metres to be used for landfilling and then covered in soil and used as a field.

Rehabilitation will be complete in four to six  years. The project also includes the construction of random rubble walls along part of the quarry site.
