The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) has announced the winners of this year’s The Special Thanks and Recognition Awards (Star), which every year offer an opportunity to those working within the tourism industry to have their hard work acknowledged.

During 2015, MTA received close to 7000 nominations by tourists highlighting employees who delivered excellent service. The Star winners at this year’s ceremony were The Victoria Hotel restaurant manager Charles Abela; taxi driver Francis Apap; tourist guide Anna Aquilina; Zarb Coaches driver Anthony Fenech; Paradise Diving Centre diving Instructor Paulina Kurowska; Tourist Information sales representative Barbara Pucciarmati; Malta Falconary Centre falconer Doreen Scicluna and Maria Giovanna Guest House front office Sonia Teuma.

Theresa Taliana, head housekeeper at the Pergala Hotel won the Hotel Worker of the Year. A special recognition award was given to Stuart Burke for his contribution to the tourism sector.
