The Milan fashion scene always has so much grace and femininity, both off and on the runway. On my first day in Milan, the three shows I attended all felt romantic and dreamy with that touch of style and elegance the Italian fashion scene is so renowned for. The fashion vibe always feels different here than it does in London.

Upon making my way to the Simonetta Ravizza AW16 show, it was a bit hard to dismiss a passionate, anti-fur protest happening right outside the show. Well and truly, fur is quite a key element for this designer and especially within this Winter collection.

Although fur, especially mink can sometimes be associated with vintage looks, here it was presented in a very updated manner. Different shades of contrasting earth colours and interesting lines really gave way to a new contemporary image. Besides fur, leather, silk and cashmere were also materials used.

Voluminous jackets, multicolored vests and some interesting combinations and styling choices such as the use of different caps made for some lovely, unique looks.

Alberta Ferretti is a designer who has largely remained true to what has become her trademark style - utter femininity.

Her dresses using chiffon, lace, hand embroidery, and tulle are always present and always a favourite with many celebrities. Pretty, fantastical and romantic are all words I would use to describe her style.

Soft lines along with earth colours and a feeling of lightness were key elements and earth colours were given prominence. A new element for the designer, is the introduction of lingerie-inspired pieces, including silk pajamas, styled into full-length jumpsuits featuring a drop waist.

Building further on this concept were also slipper mules transformed into stiletto shoes. An enchanted forest was projected onto the screen as the models sauntered past the audience to further enhance that fantastical feeling.

Francesco Scognamiglio is another designer that always projects beauty and grace. This season, he did not really make any new head waves from the previous one and the new Winter collection is pretty much a continuation.

Some new elements that featured were high-waisted trousers worn with high-necked blouses and a stunning bomber jacket with an embroidered floral pattern. The palette mainly consisted of white, black, gold, powder blue and some turquoise.

Some standout dresses were also present - they were made using thread embroidery and lurex crystal floral prints.
