Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi today visited the Mozura mountain in Montenegro where Enemalta, Shanghai Electric Power, Envision Energy and Vestigo will be building a wind farms project.

Dr Muscat said that profit from the project would go towards giving Enemalta additional funds to continue to invest in Malta, including in the electricity distribution system following years during which no investment was undertaken.

The wind farms project will consist of 23 turbines of two megawatts each for a 46MW capacity which should generate 100GW hour a year.

The project will help reduce CO2 emissions in Montenegro and contribute to the generation of three per cent of Montenegro’s energy.

Dr Muscat noted that his government had transformed Enemalta from a bankrupt company to a strong one and it would be doing the same for Air Malta.
