Singer-songwriter Ira Losco did not only lose her valuables when her car was broken into last night – her laptop containing content related to her upcoming new album also went missing.

The incident happened in Qormi last night when Ms Losco was performing at a private gig. When she returned she saw one of the back-seat windows broken and her door had been winched open, probably with a screwdriver. The thief took her gym bag, jewellery and a Macbook she had just retrieved from the recording studio.

The laptop which was placed underneath the driver’s seat, contained all the lyrics related to her new upcoming album as well as a number of other music-related “projects”, the singer told timesofmalta.com.

The laptop contained the new album consisting of 30 unpublished and released tracks as well as unpublished promo photos.

“I normally write the lyrics on my laptop and then I develop the songs in the studio. Luckily we have raw recordings of most of the songs so not all is lost.”

In a post on Facebook, Losco said: "I have reason to believe that the motive was drugs. My heart goes out to anyone who is dependent and struggling through these times with any addiction."

Only last week, Ira Losco released Haunted by Love, the first single off her upcoming album, due to be released in 2016.
