With the Premier Division ending somewhat in anti-climax for new Malta champions San Ġiljan, when they were beaten by Neptunes last Saturday, one could also say that the domestic season had a very tame epilogue, with Exiles Ferretti retaining their top division status as flatly as no one could foresee.

The second of a possible three play-offs between the teams, which ended bottom in the Premier and top in the First Division, was wrapped up as dismally as the first match on Saturday.

Marsascala started with a weak nine-man formation, with another youngster eventually entering the fray.

The absence of their Hungarian tandem, Bela Torok and Matyas Pasztor, who ended their commitments for the team, plus the non-appearance of the St Julian’s boys, Matthew Pace and Clyde Bonello further decimated the southerners.

On the other hand Exiles renounced to their club’s top-scorer, Marco Cuk, and Romain Blary.

Still there was no competitive element as Maurizio Mirar-chi’s lads went through the motions of sealing an easy 17-9 victory.
