Champions Hibernians dominated the list of nominations for the 2014-15 Malta FA Awards night which will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre on Friday.

The Paolites ran away with the Premier League last season and finished nine points clear of nearest rivals Valletta.

Hibs, the beaten FA Trophy finalists, have a nominee in each of the top categories.

In the Footballer of the Year contest, they are represented by skipper Andrew Cohen, Andrei Agius and Clayton Failla.

Paul Fenech, the 2013 winner, and his Birkirkara team-mate Zach Muscat complete the list.

Branko Nisevic, of Hibs, was also shortlisted for the Coach of the Year award along with Balzan’s Oliver Spiteri and Paul Zammit, the former Birkirkara mentor now at Valletta.

In the Foreign Player of the Year list of candidates, Hibs have Edison Luis Dos Santos and Jorginho, the joint top scorers in the league. They will be vying for the honour with Bojan Kaljevic, of Balzan.

Another Hibs player among the finalists is Johann Bezzina.

He is one of three contenders in the Young Player of the Year award. The others are Hamza Barry, of Valletta, and Birkirkara’s Ryan Camenzuli.

The rampant Paolites were also winners of the Youth League and women’s championship last season.

Their striker Jurgen Degabriele made it to the list of finalists in the Best Youth League Player award and in the women’s contest Hibs have Dorianne Theuma and Shona Zammit both in with a chance to crown a fine season with the best player crown.
