James Galea Jr had good reason to celebrate at the Tal-Ħandaq Ranges on Sunday after achieving a record score on his way to winning the two-day Qormi Trap Grand Prix, sponsored by MSG Limited.

Galea was in scorching form on Saturday, hitting three consecutive straights which were followed up with another perfect score of 25 and a 24 in the remaining two rounds of the competition’s qualifying phase on Sunday morning.

His impressive effort over the two days meant that Galea qualified for the afternoon finals with an accumulated total of 124 from a possible 125, a national record which is also considered among the best scores on the international scene.

In the semi-finals, Galea managed a round of 13 from 15 clays and 12 targets were then enough for him to see off Mario Zammit’s challenge in the final and lift the Qormi Grand Prix trophy.
