Maltese screenwriter Kerry-Ann Calleja McGregor has achieved a Special Marquee award at the American Movie Awards 2015 in the best original TV pilot screenplay category with We Stood Alone.

The winning script is based around the lives of four women who worked in the Lascaris War rooms in 1942; the year that Malta was the most bombed place in Europe. Previous Special Marquee winners include Clint Eastwood and Warren Beatty.

Within six months of graduating from the Met Film school based at Ealing studios, London, Ms Calleja McGregor’s achievements have included winning Shore script 2014 with a short script called Belonging and getting a top finalist placement in the Breaking Walls Ultimate Thriller 2014 with a feature script named Comino.

Ms Calleja McGregor will be attending the Cannes film festival, where her short film Belonging will preview in the Short Film Corner. She also hopes to attract interest to several projects that she has and which are in various stages of development.
