TimesTalk on Tuesday discussed the problem of air pollution in Malta.

Air pollution leads to the death of about 230 people each year and costs the Maltese economy €550 million. 

The impacts are far bigger than previously believed.

Is excessive traffic solely to blame or are we not realising the impact of the dust around us? Air pollution has been discussed for more than a decade. 

Successive governments have promised to tackle the problem, but we are still bearing the brunt of inadequate solutions. Does the necessary action come at a political cost no government is prepared to bear?
