The government and the opposition came head to head within hours of a critical report expressing reservations over a hedging deal worth millions struck with a trading company from Azerbaijan.

While Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi recognised the shortcomings outlined by the National Audit Office he defended the procedure adopted. Opposition deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami, on the other hand, pointed out that the report defined this as a “shortcoming in terms of governance”.
