The graffiti in black was found on the walls on St Matthew Chapel at Il-Maqluba, Qrendi and on two bus shelters between Hagar Qim and Wied Iz-Zurrieq. Two similar graffitis were drawn on the wall of the Kirkop cemetery.

They were in Arabic and English, with the scribbling in English on a stone bus shelter reads “Death to Christians 1-3-2015.

The scribbling in Arabic is of the word 'Allah,' written badly.

Qrendi Local Council condemned "such cowardly xenophobic graffiti" which it said was aimed solely at creating unwarranted fear and alarm.

It said it is working with the police in the hope that the culprit\s are identified and prosecuted.
