Michel Macelli is replacing Gemma Mifsud Bonnici as chairman of the Vodafone Malta Foundation.

Mrs Mifsud Bonnici has been chairing the foundation since it was set up in 2003. It has since channeled close to €3 million towards a number of initiatives that had a positive impact in a number of areas, particularly those related to social change, health, the environment and culture and heritage.

British High Commissioner Robert Luke and Jason Pavia will stay on as board members. They are being joined by new members Caroline Farrugia and Veronica Nardelli.

The Foundation will be taking a new direction in terms of the projects and initiatives that it supports.

This policy, referred to as ‘Mobiles 4 Good’, will see an emphasis on using mobile technology to mobilise and deliver social change.

It will remain active in the social, medical, environment and heritage fields and will be identifying projects in these areas where the most innovative application of mobile networks can be utilised to bring about tangible improvements.
