A Frenchman who damaged a rented apartment after throwing a party was given a conditional discharge.
Florian Ribouchon, 24, pleaded guilty to causing about €2,900 worth of damage to a rented apartment in Sliema.
Police Inspector Jason Sultana testified that Mr Ribouchon was sharing a flat with friends. He wanted to move out and a disagreement arose between them. He then decided to throw a party, the officer told Magistrate Gabriella Vella.
A substantial amount of damage was done, which Mr Ribouchon paid for.
Magistrate Vella took note that Mr Ribouchon had cooperated with the police.
In fact, he went to the police station of his own accord, confessed he had damaged the property and assisted the police in their investigation.
While pointing out that the court did not condone such immature behaviour, the magistrate took into consideration the fact that Mr Ribouchon regretted what he did.
She conditionally discharged him for a year.
Lawyer Mark Mifsud Micallef appeared for Mr Ribouchon as legal aid.
