Driven by Johan Axisa, Pronostic De Neige won yesterday’s major event on the card at the Marsa Racetrack, the Premier Class race over 2,140 metres.

This race formed part of the second winter meeting with the programme including six races, all for trotters and all on a short distance.

Thirteen horses lined up for the Premier race.

Pronostic De Neige started to increase its speed with a lap to go and then took the lead ahead of the group in front around 500m from the finish line.

The French trotter went on to secure its first win of the year ahead of B.W.L. Champion (Noel Baldacchino) and Quattro d’Airline (Cliferty Calleja).

Swedish newcomer Vasterbo Paradise (Claudio Refalo) had a fine debut at Marsa when finishing in fourth place. Pronostic De Neige clocked an average time of 1.15.7” per kilometre.

The card also included two races from the Gold Class.

In the first, Qurieux Du Ponchet (Noel Baldacchino) upped its pace some 400m from the end and dashed past the post first, almost half-a-length in front of Prince Gaillard (Charles Camilleri) and Midnight Passion (Eric Bezzina).

Markus Klipp (Darren Mizzi) was fourth.

Young driver Redent Magro put Netter Williams ahead in the final straight of the other Gold Class race yesterday.

Netter Williams went on to win the race some two lengths ahead of Pepita Ans (Rodney Gatt).
