The Mepa Board has given the green light to changes to the approved Metropolis mixed use project which will give new life to the area around Testaferrata Street in Gzira.

The changes will see the investment double to €120 million. They include an increase in the car park facilities of the project by a further 118 spaces (added to the original 500) and the redesign of the podium area which will result in the creation of more public open space within the project.

Through the redesign, the piazza area which will have overhanging landscaped terraces will increase from 2210 sqm to 4265 sqm in public open space.

Further modifications include the elevations of the towers, the change of use from residential to office use of the east tower to incorporate a gym, pool bar area and restaurant, and the inclusion of a private helipad on the roof of the highest tower.

Metropolis will have three high-rise buildings consisting of 13, 27 and 33 floors.

The project includes luxury residential, commercial, health, fitness and leisure facilities.

A communal outdoor swimming pool and deck area was also approved on the flat roof of the south tower.
