Sitting down for a cup of coffee and chatting to a friend seems quite the normal thing to do. However, during these chats, most women rarely steer the conversation towards business matters, seeming to prefer sharing information about their families, children and lives outside the remits of work. Yet once a year, the Foundation for Women Entrepreneurs, in collaboration with the Ministry for the Economy, Investment and Small Business, holds the Female Business Cafe, where all of this is turned upside down, in a good way.

Thinking of setting up a business can be very stressful: people worry about where they will get the capital from, will family support be forthcoming, how will they cope with all the issues, and most importantly, whether they are good enough to succeed. All of these are very normal questions and women business owners have all asked them at some point in time. And sometimes, they keep asking them still.

This year, the Female Business Cafe will be held at the Kunsill Malti għall-Isport, Cospicua. It provides the ideal platform for doing just that: talking to someone friendly, who has done it before, and who can help point you in the right direction. Brain storming sessions will also be held twice during the day in order to have some structure in how to tackle the issue of setting up a business.

The Foundation for Women Entrepreneurs will be joined by around eight different organisations, dealing with different business aspects. These organisations can answer your questions there and then. Representatives of entities like Malta Enterprise, Commerce Department, Mepa, Social Security services, banks, and others will sit down and explain how to do it all.

And if you have small kids, don’t worry: at the Female Business Cafe, a play area will be set up where the young ones will be supervised by a professional child carer. This means that you can focus on your busi-ness and yourself for a while, knowing that your children are enjoying themselves.

The Female Business Cafe will be held on Tuesday, October 28 from 9am till 2pm. For more information contact the Foundation for Women Entrepreneurs on info@women.org.mt.
