Air Malta CEO Louis Giordimaina has resigned "for personal reasons".

Mr Giodimaina, who has been heading the airline for just over eight months, could not be reached for comment.

Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis said this evening he had been informed of the resignation.

Sources close to the airline attributed his resignation to “differences” with Air Malta chairman Maria Micallef, who was appointed in July.

An aircraft engineer by profession, Mr Giordimaina was appointed to serve as designate CEO in November and took over from Peter Davies in January.

A number of other top airline managers tendered their resignation over the past weeks, Times of Malta is informed.
