The supermoon rises over St Paul’s Cathedral in Mdina on August 10. The astronomical event occurs when the moon is closest to Earth in its orbit, making it appear much larger and brighter than usual. Sunday’s supermoon was the second of three spectacularly bright moons this year. Having three in such close proximity is very rare and will not happen again until 2034.
