On the occasion of the arrival of the relic of the blood of the martyr St Lawrence on July 25 at San Lawrenz from Amaseno, I had the privilege to witness the extraordinary liquefaction of the blood preserved in the relic which is in a solid state throughout the year.
The blood is seen to liquefy once every year on the feast day of St Lawrence, August 10.
In Gozo, the relic was accompanied by a number of residents of Amaseno, including the parish priest.
The latter, who witnesses the annual liquefaction of this relic in his parish at Amaseno, confirmed to the congregation at the church of San Lawrenz, that the state of the liquefied blood on that day was exactly as it is on St Lawrence day.
This means that the event at San Lawrenz was an exception in view of the liquefaction that took place on a day which was not the feast day of St Lawrence and not at Amaseno.
