Video interviews of people talking about their careers, talents and social life are being featured on The Zone at www.timesof malta.com/ thezone. A new interview with Contribute Ltd co-founders Karl Wijmark, Nils Wijmark and Janika Portelli will be uploaded tomorrow.

An estimated 2,000 children under the age of five die every day globally from diarrhoeal diseases; some 1,800 of these are linked to water, sanitation and hygiene. Around 748 million people have no safe water.

Ten per cent of the world’s population lives without access to safe water. More than 500,000 children die every year due to water-related diseases – that is over 1,400 children a day.

The figures are mind-numbing. To do something about the grave consequences of lack of easy access to safe drinking water, these three young entrepreneurs decided to team up and found Contribute Ltd, a charity organisation dedicated to helping people gain access to clean water and proper sanitation in Africa.

For every bottle of water sold by Contribute, part of the revenue goes to charity. Find out what it took them to set up their company and see the difference they have made thanks to their business endeavour.
