Malta Public Transport has introduced a new type of bus ticket which bus commuters will be able to buy in advance of travelling.

The new ticket features a set of scratch-off panels that customers will use to validate their ticket themselves thus allowing them to board buses quicker and with greater ease.

The new scratch-off tickets will be available in two formats: 1-Day Tickets and 7-Day Tickets and will be available at regular bus fares for adults, children, holders of Kartanzjan or the E60+ card as well as holders of the Blue Badge Card.

The company said those buying the one-day  Scratch-Off Ticket simply need to scratch-off the day and month they wish to travel on. The ticket will be valid for travel on all daytime bus services in Malta on that day.

For a seven-day Scratch-Off Ticket, commuters need to scratch off 7 consecutive days starting from the first day and scratch off the right month. The ticket will be valid for travel on all seven days scratched off days, on all on all daytime bus services in Malta.

Passengers travelling without a ticket may be liable to pay a fine of €50.

Scratch-Off Bus Tickets are on sale from ticket sellers and on-board sub-contracted buses.
