The Ornis Committee is expected to recommend a finch trapping season for the coming autumn, The Sunday Times of Malta has learnt.

The committee will be meeting on Tuesday to consider a recommendation of the hunters’ federation (FKNK) to allow trapping of songbirds between October 1 and December 31.

“There is no guarantee that the proposal will be voted upon on Tuesday but it is looking very likely,” a source told this newspaper, adding that FKNK and government appointees on the committee are set to back the proposal.
