Yanantin Boko, Cloria Victis grab the limelight

Yanantin Boko and Cloria Victis stole the limelight in the Sette Giugno Championship semi-finals which formed part of the 24th meeting of the season at the Marsa race track yesterday.

In the first class Premier semi-final, Yanantin Boko (Darren Mizzi) cruised to its first win in Malta.

This Swedish nine-year-old trotter was unchallenged for most of the distance and triumphed by a length from Zalgado Transs R (Charles Degiorgio).

Favourite Zandina Boshoeve (Rodney Gatt), Vanmaker Limburgia (Charles Camilleri) and Rocky Composite (Noel Baldacchino) also qualified for the final race after ending respectively in third, fourth and fifth place.

The winner clocked an average time of 1.14.5” per kilometre.

Ten other horses lined up for the second Premier semi final.

Here favourite Cloria Victis (Charles Degiorgio) upped its pace midway through the 2,140m distance to register its second consecutive win and its third of the season.

The Bad Rock (Rodney Gatt) was second ahead of Vejby Boom (Charles Camilleri). Lage (Claudio Refalo) and New Star DK (Noel Baldacchino) followed in that order.

Cloria Victis registered a time of 1.13.9” per kilometre.

Another meeting at the Marsa Racetrack will be held next Friday.

First race starts at 6.30pm.
