A Potato and Agrarian Festival will be held this Sunday in Qrendi, Malta’s potato harvest capital

Now in its third year, the festival is popular among tourists and locals alike, allowing visitors the opportunity to re-discover the rural aspect of the Maltese Islands.

Activities organized throughout the day’s event will enable  visitors to receive first hand information on the different potato varieties as well as to get to know more on the machinery used in the harvesting and export of potatoes.

Visitors will be able to savour potato-based traditional gourmet dishes, as well as the ever popular potato cinnamon ice-cream, sweet potato pies, potato lasagna, and spiced potato pumpkin cakes.

Musical entertainment throughout the festival will include The Crowns, Freddie Portelli and budding talent of Gaia Cauchi.

At the historic Ġnien Tal-Kmand garden, traditional Maltese folk singing (Għana) will also be performed, whilst a record breaking tug of war will be attempted by the Qrendi Scouts.

The event is being organized by the Qrendi Local Council in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority, and shall be held at Cecilia Pick Garden at “Tal-Warda” in Qrendi between 9am and 8.00 pm.
