Gozo Bishop Mario Grech led a concelebrated Mass last Sunday at the Xewkija Rotunda to mark the feast of Christ the King and the conclusion of the Year of Faith which had been launched by Pope Benedict XVI on October 11, 2012. The guests of honour were children who are being prepared for their first Holy Communion. In his homily Mgr Grech, flanked by all the parish priests and many other priests, addressed the large congregation by saluting the children, their parents and the catechists.

Focusing on St Luke’s Gospel depicting Christ’s agony and his dialogue with the two thieves crucified with him, Mgr Grech spoke about the salvific power of faith. At the end of the celebration, he presented each parish priest with a symbolic cross to be venerated in each parish church around Gozo.
