I’m so stumped I can’t speak. Tongue-tied. Too many people saying the same thing. All abroad seem to be laughing at us and our crazy scams of citizenship sales.

So I have still said my bit and shall carry on to say more.

This PL promised us open government, a government that, unlike the ghoulish Gonzi clan, would listen and analyse all our wishes. Far from a year down the line and on all fronts the government, led so merrily by Joseph Muscat, is seen as wanting.

The people screamed, the foreign press hollered and yet all they do is say we, the nay sayers, led by Simon Busuttil and Co, haven’t learnt a thing. The only thing we should learn is that the PL promises a lot and delivers naught.

The PL, back and it already seems a few aeons away when they were in opposition, promised transparency on all fronts once in government. Such wise, worthy words. And the Prime Minister in his spin actually said we will have it even in this citizenship sale. But then the names are secret. So where is the logic in all his lucid and terribly loose interpretation of transparent?

And one final terrible thought. Of all the LP MPs, one lone voice cried out that she is not happy with the sale of citizenship. Should we applaud her? Or damn her for saying that and then voting in, with her fellow MPs, a law which is not just putting us to shame but also rekindling words that we are some silly, rogue island in the red trying hard to make our books look good.

Some of us worry about Labour not being convinced of its EU credentials. Finally and funnily I fear Malta will one day be chucked out of the EU. Strangely it will be the Labour Party itself which will cry hardest if this happens as then our coffers will surely not be filled by any citizens paying to be Maltese.
