CIAVOLA AZZOPARDI. On October 9, NIRVANA, aged 40, passed away peacefully. She will be deeply missed by her husband Marius, her sons Sam and Noah, her parents Anna and Joe, her family and many friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 1.30pm for St Julian’s parish church where Mass will be said at 2pm, followed by private interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Nirvana expressed the wish that those attending Mass will not wear black but colours.

FORMOSA. On October 9, at Loyola House, Naxxar, Fr HARRY FORMOSA, SJ, aged 76, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brethren of the Society of Jesus in Malta, his sister Maryanne, widow of Joseph Farrugia, Josephine, Lawrence and John, MUSEUM members, Carmel and his wife Dorothy and Teresa, relatives and many friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated today at 4pm at Naxxar parish church, followed by interment at Naxxar cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Jesuit Province Infirmary at Loyola House, Naxxar, will be greatly appreciated. May he rest in the peace of the Risen Lord.

HALLIDAY. On October 8, in Cirencester, Gloucester, UK, WALTER of Floriana, aged 86, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by his family. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved children Patricia, Hazel, Colin and Walter, their respective spouses, his grandchildren, his brothers Frederick and Denis and their respective wives, nephews and nieces, cousins in Malta, other relatives and friends. The funeral will be held in the UK. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MORTIMER/McIVER. Peacefully, at Gozo General Hospital, after a long illness, JOY LILIAN MORTIMER, 2.9.1952-6.10.2013, beloved wife of Jim McIver, mother of Howard, Jillian and Phillip Anderson, mother-in-law of Maggie, Rab and Dominique, sister of Ann Lewis and Mary Jones and grandmother to Cian. Her funeral will be held in Scotland and a celebration of her life will be held for her Gozo friends at a later date. Special thanks go to the doctor and all the staff at Gozo General, Boffa and Mater Dei hospitals. Died on Gozo, the “Island of Joy” which she loved so much.

PACE. On October 1, at Mater Dei Hospital, EDDIE, of Sliema, aged 83, passed away peacefully,com-forted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sisters Lydia, Lina and Evelyn and their res-pective families. Mass præsente cadavere will be said tomorrow at 9.30am at Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

PERALTA. On October 8, at St Julian’s, LUCY, widow of Carol and of Roy Flery, aged 99, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss her son Hugh and his wife Christine, whom she dearly loved, her grandchildren Filippa and her husband Simon, Carl and his wife Karen, her great-grandchildren Emilia, Paul, Helena and baby Alexander, her brother Louis Naudi, her step-daughter Marla and her husband John Vidrinskas and the Flery family in the USA, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be said tomorrow at 2.30pm at Balzan parish church, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

SCHEMBRI. On October 8, at home, ALFRED, of Iklin, aged 71, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by his family. He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss, his devoted wife Doris, née Attard, his son Daniel and wife Sue, his daughter Roberta and her partner Leo and beloved grandchildren Nicole and Luke, his sisters, Catherine, Mimi and Joyce, brothers Marc, Leonard, Anthony and Victor and their respective spouses, aunts and uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces, other relatives and his many friends. The funeral leaves his home today at 1.30pm for Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm followed by interment at the cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Hospice Movement, Balzan will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
