Melanie Astles, the reigning French aerobatic champion, will be at the Hub Air stand during the Malta International Air Show this weekend.

Ms Astles will be representing Hub Air in the next world aerobatic championships, organised by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale.

Hub Air is a Belgian aviation academy that recently opened a base in Malta.

Aerobatic champions are synonymous with the academy as its founder and CEO, Francois Brocart, is a former French and Benelux Aerobatic Champion.

Steve Carter, director of Hub Air/67 Academy, said: “Aerobatic flying is a very daring sport.

“It is considered the Formula 1 of flying, requiring a broader set of piloting skills and exposing the aircraft to greater structural stresses than a normal flight.”

Hub Air will be displaying its three Tecnam planes and its DA-42 tomorrow and Sunday.

Admission to the air show at Malta Airport is €12 for adults and free for under-14s. Opening hours are 10am to 5.30pm.
